FIM New Director

The FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) Board of Directors has appointed Jesper Christensen, from Sweden, as Director of the CAP (Public Affairs Commission).

We have worked previously with Jesper and have kept in contact with discussions on motorcycling issues.

We recently ran into Jesper in person at the IFZ International Conference and the FEMA European Motorcyclist Forum held in parallel with the Intermot Motorcycle Show at Cologne in Germany.

Our own comment about Jesper is that they couldn’t have picked a better person for the job, as an effervescent and dedicated motorcyclist.

FIM Public Affairs Commission – CAP

Jesper succeeds Mr. Achilles Damen, President/Director of the CAP since 2002 and is now responsible for the FIM’s work with road safety, public relations, mobility and transport by road for all motorcyclists worldwide.

Jesper is a well-known name on the motorcycle politics and road safety scene and during the six years that he has been a member of the FIM’s Commission he has played a part in developing a new policy for the FIM.

He has improved cooperation between road and sports organizations in several countries, contributed to better cooperation with other international motorcycle organizations and also assisted FIM to locate a global conference for MC-trainers in Sweden in 2013.

Jesper Christensen is the present General Secretary of the Swedish Motorcyclist Association, SMC, which has 65,000 road riding members.

The SMC is Associated with Swedish FIM member SVEMO and is a member organisation of FEMA. His lifelong passion for motorcycling and the fact that he is a very active rider led to a board position within the SMC and later to a full time job.

According to the SMC staff, Jesper constantly sees new possibilities and turns them into reality.

One example is the growth of the number of secondary training opportunities for road riders, which has made SMC the number one leaser of road-racing tracks in Sweden.

His involvement in a sailing Championship helped him to understand the sporting challenges which he now has to tackle as chairman of the new SMC SPORT club. The aim of the club is to give road riders a possibility to test motorcycle sports. Jesper owns a number of motorcycles and he covers some 30,000 kilometres a year on the road and the race track.

At Right To Ride we would like to add to the FIM Board of Directors, congratulations to Jesper on his appointment and we consider this to be a significant appointment for the world of motorcycling we are involved in.

The FIM Board  has also taken the opportunity to extend its thanks to Mr. Achilles Damen for his important contribution to the achievement of the FIM’s public policy and public affairs objectives.
