ETRA Dissolved

At an extraordinary Assembly General, the effective members of the European Twowheel Retailers’ Association (ETRA) have decided to dissolve and liquidate ETRA due to insufficient funding.

The effective members have taken the decision to dissolve ETRA unanimously.

ETRA was established in 1995 and had since worked at European level to defend and promote the interests of European two-wheel dealers as a European professional association for independent bicycle, moped and motorcycle retailers.

ETRAs aim was to group these retailers in Europe and to defend and further their interests.

ETRA represented nearly 7,000 companies, which employ approximately 17,500 people in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

4thSusainable2Wheelspic1etraThe association also had a large number of associated members in 7 EU member states (Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, the Netherlands, UK and Sweden) as well as in countries outside the EU, i.e. Canada, Korea, New Zealand, Switzerland, Taiwan and USA.

What moped and motorcycle issues ETRA were involved in was:

Review of European driving licences

Roadworthiness testing for motorcycles

European type-approval for mopeds and motorcycles

Motor output of motorcycles + emission standards

What we have now is a gap in representation in Europe for bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles by the independent two-wheel retailers.

Will ETRA be missed?
